It's hard to believe it's been 24 years since that unforgettable day that changed our World. Of the 2,753 people who died that day, 64 residents of Morris County lost their lives during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. These individuals are honored at the Morris County 9/11 Memorial in Parsippany-Troy Hills, where each of their names is engraved on ruby-colored paving stones surrounding the memorial's inner wall
Stuck on how to talk to young children on about that fateful day, try this! On September 11, 2001, something very sad happened in our country. A group of people who wanted to cause harm attacked the United States by taking over airplanes and crashing them into important buildings. Many people lost their lives that day, including everyday workers, firefighters, police officers, and others who were trying to help.
It was a scary and heartbreaking time for many families. But it was also a day when we saw incredible bravery and kindness. Firefighters, police officers, and regular people rushed in to help others, even when it meant putting themselves in danger.
Today, we remember September 11th not just because of the sadness, but also because it taught us about courage, helping others, and the importance of coming together as a community. Every year, people across the country hold memorial services where we take a moment to be quiet, remember those who died, and honor the heroes who helped.
What does it mean to be a hero? Can you think of a time when someone helped another person in a big or small way? Remember little heros can do little things. Maybe they read to a senior or went and made friends with someone on the buddy bench. This is a great time empower our kids.

The day will have speaker Rudy Sanfilippo, Former FDNY Firefighter/South Tower survivor as well as procession of EMS vehicles. 64 candles will be light.
Seating is limited so bring a lawn chair. Additionally, parking is limited. a shuttle will be available at 340 West Hanover Ave.

Looking for something more private?
Visit the memorial in Morris Plains at the corners of Rt 53 & Rt 202. The memorial is made from steel out of the North Tower (floors 93-96)
Visit James Park in Madison, 15 Park Ave. The base of the flag pole has recovered steel and a memorial plaque.
In Lincoln Park, just across from the train station is a memorial tree containing a plaque of the three people who commuted from there lost that day.
