The Morris County Library is pleased to invite the public to participate in a unique, Jane Austen-inspired art exhibition and contest. The library invites visual artists residing, working, or studying within Morris County to help us celebrate the enduring legacy of Jane Austen through artistic interpretation. This special exhibit honors the 250th anniversary of the beloved English novelist's birthday on December 16, 1775.
Visual artists of all backgrounds working in all media are invited to submit their original artwork for inclusion in this exhibit, which will be on display in the library’s gallery throughout December 2025. Artwork using Artificial Intelligence, in whole or in part, is ineligible for submission. Submissions will be accepted from November 1–22, 2025. All submitted artwork must be a) framed or b) unframed on canvas and have a wire for hanging. Artists must also submit a completed Agreement to Exhibit in MCL’s Jane Austen Exhibit along with their artwork. The agreement, available on the library’s website or by request, provides details of this exhibit and includes the library’s overall exhibit guidelines.
Artwork displayed during the exhibition will automatically be entered into a contest wherein library visitors will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite piece during the month of December. The artist whose artwork garners the most votes will be awarded a $100 gift card to Blick Art Materials.
The "Jane Austen 250th Anniversary Art Exhibition & Contest" will be on display and viewable during the Morris County Library's open hours throughout December 2025. This exhibition and contest offer a wonderful opportunity for artists to showcase their talent
while paying tribute to one of literature's most influential figures.
